Eye Diseases and the Importance of Early Detection

We work to identify the signs of eye diseases early before they have a chance to affect your vision. Our eye exams are the foundation of our lifetime commitment to you and your vision, as early detection is the best way to protect your eyesight.

Our Advanced Imaging Technology

Our team uses a variety of advanced equipment, including the cutting edge Optos ultra-widefield retinal imager, which gives a complete, high-definition image of the back of your eye and the important structures inside of it. The Optos gives us these images without ever needing to dilate your eyes and helps us identify the earliest signs of vision-threatening conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma.

Conditions We Treat

We diagnose and manage a wide range of eye diseases and conditions, including the following:

Macular Degeneration, Screening & Testing

Macular degeneration is a condition that affects the retinal structure, called the macula, which causes loss of central vision or loss of details in the central vision. If you have a family history of macular degeneration or are experiencing changes in your central vision, you need to schedule a dilated fundus examination with your eye doctor.

Glaucoma icon

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve which causes loss of peripheral vision and can lead to blindness. If you have a family history of glaucoma or have been told that your optic nerve is large or if the pressures in your eye are elevated, you need to have a complete glaucoma workup to rule out this disease.

Dry Eye icon

Dry Eye

An uncomfortable yet common condition, dry eye disease causes your eyes to feel dehydrated and irritated. This is often due to either inadequate tear production, or low-quality tears. Our team uses advanced diagnostic technology to identify the root cause of your dry eye and then take steps to provide you with fast relief from its symptoms.

Red Eye

Red eye is usually a sign of infection or inflammation of the eye. It can result from any of the following conditions, including viral, bacterial, allergic, conjunctivitis, episcleritis, scleritis, acute glaucoma, dry eye, and herpes keratitis, though it is not limited to just those. If you are having symptoms of red eye accompanied with pain or discomfort or reduced vision, it is important to see an eye doctor immediately.

Diabetic Eye Exam icon

Diabetic Eye Disease

Diabetes can affect all aspects of your health, but it can potentially have a large impact on your vision if left unmonitored. Regular eye exams can help us stay ahead of diabetic eye conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy, and we’ll customize a management plan to handle any conditions or issues that may arise.

Surgical Co-management icon

Surgical Co-Management

We make it our duty to care for your eyes, inside and out, and if they ever require surgery, we’ll be by your side. We work closely with the top surgeons in the area and will co-manage your procedure to ensure a smooth recovery and crystal-clear vision.

Foreign Body icon

Foreign Body

Foreign bodies can get lodged in the eye any time we’re out in the open, but most commonly happens when working with wood or metals without proper protective eyewear. Foreign bodies, if lodged in the cornea or conjunctiva, need to be immediately removed as some metals can rust and some plant material can cause fungal or bacterial infections.
